STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I believe that God has a plan for our lives and that it is our "job" to read the job description. I also believe we are a sum total of Who we follow and lessons learned along the path we've walked. James summed it up, "Be doers of the Word". Therefore, it is my job to share what I've learned. Speaking to men about Christ is clearly part of God's plan for my life. My witness is an easy to follow story told through first hand illustrations that may have their roots in remote Eskimo villages north of the Arctic Circle or in the soft glow of an African campfire. The trail I've walked has outfitted me with true tales of grizzly, wolverine, lion and leopard attacks plus incredible accounts of survival in the Arctic and of countless treks past death's door. These compelling narratives are targeted toward men. When speaking, I meld my God given gift as a professional storyteller with the basic lessons and principals of Christianity. It is my opinion that people recall and relate to compelling illustrations. It is one thing to lecture second-hand about something you've heard, but far more meaningful to relate what you've experienced. As a strong proponent of "Life Application Christianity", I draw audiences into living stories and then firmly attach Christ centered truths that can be recalled years later. I always knew that God had a plan for my life. For years I heard friends say over and over that I should write a book about my adventures. Only a few years ago I realized that my story was one God wanted me to tell. Not just about adventure, but about Him. Christ's story was framed by the many world-class adventures I've enjoyed. And more importantly I realized the profile of the audience God was preparing me to reach. My target was men seeking answers and direction. The answer I present is simply Christ. Reaching unchurched or uncommitted adult men with the message of salvation is difficult unless you can get them to voluntarily sit and listen. The hook is that many men are drawn to outdoor adventure. Hunting and fishing are valid and historic passions of men worldwide. In the television industry, before we begin a production, we first identify common elements in the target audience. In this case we know that men long for the uncertain, the dream of adventure. Many seemingly "sane" adult men will sit all day in a treestand or duck blind in freezing rain trying to bring home a pound of meat when their freezer is full! On the surface men are independent providers who believe they can do it all themselves. Under the mask, they long for purpose, significance and direction in a increasing confusing world. Today this "hunt" manifests itself as the quest for position, possessions or paychecks, rather than meat for the family, but the provider part of man still echoes through us with a resonance. This undeniable hunting/adventure heritage of men goes back thousands of years and has been shared in storytelling since Adam. It's who we are. I didn't invent this storytelling concept. It was the format often used by Jesus. Storytelling for Christ is my medium. My unique background as a biologist in the hunting/video/broadcast industry along with my 17 years in Alaska's Wilderness is a drawing card that can fill seats with men who need Christ. I present Christ boldly in a format men can identify with, and together we fill the great commission . On the trail
